Simplicity
For my final major project I did some research on simplicity. What it was, how it works and how we achieve this. According to it's definition is the quality or condition of being plain or uncomplicated in form or design.
By thinking of simplicity the first thing that comes to my mind is the Bauhaus, where they believed "ornament is crime" and "less is more". There slogan they had of functionalism: something is only designed to fit its purpose we can let beauty look after itself. Inspired by Wassily Kandinsky's work on the Bauhaus got me thinking of the primary forms [Triangle, Square and Circle], and how much we are surrounded by these in our everyday life.
Also I looked into John Maeda's book: Laws of Simplicity, which showed me how to achieve these, mainly by: reducing, organising, timing, learning.
I got inspired to go around and take some pictures of what I considered simple, and where the object achieved it's function mainly by the forms of Triangles, Squares and Circles.
So here are a couple of these pictures:

Paloma

February Favourites 2014
I really have been loving a couple of things this month so I thought I might do a post on all of this thingys:The Fault in our Stars: This amazing book by John Green it's been all over tumblr, and since the trailer came out I thought I might read it before I watched the movie. I'm not that much of a reader, I rarely finish books, but this book took me 4 days to read. It was so amazing, I can not wait till june for the movie to come out. Tfios was such an amazing book, made me laugh and cry at the same time so much.
Shea Body Butter: I love body butters and The Body Shop makes one of the best ones, this month I've been loving the Hazelnut one, smells amazing, it's perfect for when getting out of the shower.
Clinique Superpowder Double Face - Powder and Makeup Base: I'm using this after applying my liquid makeup foundation, and it just gives it this more natural look to my face, and less shine. Also I've realised it lasts longer than other powders which I've used in the past.Chanel Stylo Eyeshadow- Colour 57 Black Stream: (Line on the left) It's a black stick eyeshadow with a little glitter. I believe this is perfect for night out it's so quick and easy to use, you have this smokey eye look in no time.
Chanel Stylo Yeux Waterproof- Colour 30 Marine: (Line on the right) I never use to do my upper inner line, but I'm now starting to think it makes it seem like I have more eyelashes. This is one is the colour navy and I love the effect it gives to my eyelashes.
Bourjois Effet 3D Gloss- Colour 50 Brun Exotic: This lipgloss is a little old, but I just started using it again. The colour I would describe it as a dark peach with a little glitter, and it's not very sticky which really bothers me of other lip-glosses. Most of the time I just wear it on top of plain lipsticks and it make my lips look bigger.
The Key- Justin Bieber: I must admit I really wanted this fragrance just because it looked pretty, it's nothing like the other fragrances Justin Bieber has had in the past, doesn't look that childish anymore (the fragrance haha). So I went to try it first and I really liked the smell of it, since then it's been my everyday fragrance for uni.
Sincerely,
Paloma
